Réception In-Cosmetics Asia 2019 - 5 novembre 2019
Dear French exhibitors and affiliated companies
Dear Thai business partners companies
It’s a great pleasure to welcome you all to this historic French Residence – 160 years old -on the occasion of the In –Cosmetics Asia Fair.
I am very pleased to see that, this year, France represents the third largest foreign presence at In-Cosmetics, with a total of 48 French companies, including 17 companies on the French Pavilion.
I visited the Pavilion this afternoon and I must say that our companies are really promoting the French Touch, with a wide range of vegetal, marine, mineral and chemical ingredients.
As I am sure you know, France is a world-renowned supplier of raw materials for the cosmetics industry. Certified for their quality and purity, these ingredients comply with the strictest regulations and all the requirements regarding social ethics. They are winning over the world’s leading luxury brands and I hope they will be winning the Thai market as well.
Thailand is indeed the 2nd largest cosmetic exporter in Asia, after Japan, and the 17th in the world, but it’s also the leading market in ASEAN in terms of consumption, with a turnover of 4.5 billion euros. At the same time the global market for cosmetic ingredients has experienced a sustained growth, driven by the increased demand for cosmetic products worldwide.
The presence of French affiliated companies in Thailand such as L’Oréal, Mane and Charabot, reflects Thailand’s strength in terms of manufacturing and market expansion. And I was very pleased to participate yesterday to the grand opening of the Argeville’s first factory in Thailand, located in Samutprakarn.
Innovation is a key factor for success and our French companies are increasingly ingenious in their innovations to respond to new trends, in particular by improving their formulas.
This is why a growing number of Thai cosmetic manufacturers such as J Kos, DCMC, NBD Healthcare and Westons and Thai brands like Organika have trusted French formulas for their quality and prestigious positioning.
Among the new trends, you can notice that cosmetic products based on natural and vegetable components are increasingly requested by consumers, who are looking for health safety and wish to ban all toxic products, such as phthalates, phenoxyethanol or parabens, from their daily lives.
In this regard, I am pleased to see that Ecocert, has joined this event. They are genuinely the testimony that France is a leading country in international certification standards for cosmetics.
More globally, the business relationship between France and Thailand would not be as strong without the support of Thai business partners working closely with French companies.
This collaboration between Thai and French companies is the key to our joint success in the Thai market.
For instance, a few weeks ago, the Franco-Thai Chamber of Commerce supported the Thailand Center of Excellence for Life and Science (TCELS) to bring 6 Thai manufacturers of active cosmetics ingredients to join the Thai Pavilion at COSMETIC 360°. This trade show, organized by Cosmetic Valley, the French Business Cluster for cosmetics and perfumes, took place at the Carrousel du Louvre and gave a great opportunity to Thai and French companies to reinforce their partnerships.
To conclude, I would like to thank Business France, the French public agency responsible for the development of exports and international investment in France, for organizing the French Pavilion on In-Cosmetics 2019.
With all these supports, I do believe your presence at the show will be fruitful and will bring to the participants new opportunities in this region.
I wish you all a successful exhibition and hope that it will bring further collaborations between France and Thailand, in a year when our two countries celebrate the 333rd anniversary of the first Siamese embassy to the court of Louis the XIVth in Versailles.
So, let’s drink to that !
